AIRBRUSH PAINTING ON GOALIE MASK

For #WFC2014 i did this mask for #latvian national #floorball team shortly before the games they  were playing in Gotheborg. The task was to integrate sponsros’ brand logo & name in a national colors & blend into composition of latvian symbols.

Usually all masks for Latvian goalies are made in grey & carmin red colors with very , very abstract elements from freedom statue, i wanted to go for somethig  distinctive,  so i decided to do this painting more realistic & keep as close as possible to the exact colors of monument of freedom & ralistic wavy flag …

honestly it was not an easy task due to Blindsave Golaie Masks significantly curvy surface, but as everything in this life, when done with passion & love, with heart but not mind, comes out very nicely & on more ease than expected!

Aerograph or Air Brush tool i used for painting BLINDSAVE GOALIE MASK for #WFC2014

Piece by piece each seciton must be peeled-off & pinting must be done ONLY IN ONE AREA AT A TIME, so all others near by must be covered-up again & again..

BLINDSAVE logo on the back of the mask.. turning it int Red & grey instead of usual blue & pink.

Gesecolor workign in a garage near Riga in Latvia to get BLINDSAVE GOALIE MASK done for WFC2014 done in time . that was cold, cold november.

In the beginnign it is hard to actually see, other parts, when You cover all near by standing ones again & again.. so you keep this image & meorize each piece in Your head..

Making sure that composition will fit on the surface & this exciting & stressfull moment, HOW TO START, where to make the points & how to draw it onto the curvy surfac of Blindsave Golaie mask…

on BLINDAVE GOALIE MASK Jaw proteciton part i covered by pattern form the real monument MILDA in Riga .. it took a while.. to paint each shadow & each gradient & each piece one by one, cause in this technique You can not do more than one piece at a time.

Stars were the easiest part of this composition.. cause elements were quite large & surface o the BLINDSAVE GOLAIE MASK was not so curvy in this top area.

Final touches. When each piece is painted one by one (not seeing whole picture during the process) afterwards you just finally add shadows 7 lights to whole composition.. it is quite stressful because to ad too much or not in the right place… paingint woudl be destroyed …

in the officce, first drafts of my idea how it could look. Making sure it wil nto be too abtract or too close to other i have seen in the galie field in Latvia for National team players.

Preparing surface before starting any work.. You need to actually polish-off all color which You get originally form the factory in China where BLINDSAVE GOALIE MASKS are produced.

Always start with the hardest part … this was a bit tricky, to do realistic monument figure on such a curvy shape of BLINDSAVE MASK base

For the base we need to paint polished Blindsave golaie mask with the base color – gesecolor is using bg airbrush in this case , borrowed it from car painters … in a garage

Thats how it starts. Blindsave old mask painted by heroic Pon.ch , new mask , higheels -off & warm boots on in a cold garage!
