It was a honor to make a present for this Latvian School in New York: a new logo! the task was really clear, not a big chance to step aside or invent somethign completely new, but it was challenging enough to fit into requirements of etnographical SYBOLISM and modern minimalistic look – emblem , so the name of the school actually could be red along with the sign. SUN symbol was picked as the right to go for – so i did it more stylized & minimalistic enough so it could be in the same time MODERN as well as keep its symbolic bond with historical heritage.
I joined the schools’ summer camp preparation bee in Katskeli Camp in NY to make sure this is the really Latvian feeling place on the Aerican land! I felt almost like home! 150 kids & their parents – all speaking latvian to keep our heritage alive overseas despite obstacles that some of them are there for more than two generations! I enjoyed to bee a volunteer in a camp preparation work & sharde a totally diferent experience as usually in those two weekends, but that was work it – unity – latvians – culture – nature – children – joy !
People who are running this school & organizing camps are just amazing! wish them neverending energy!
